Museums and InstitutionsTheodor Herzl's Writing Table
What differentiates one simple pine table from another? Perhaps nothing more than the story behind it. In 1896 Herzl wrote his book, Der Judenstaat (The Jewish State) at this table. It had never been restored before, and when it arrived in my shop the table top was split in several places and had to be repaired and re-glued. The black polish finish had faded away and dried out. New black polish was applied to return the table its dignity and simple but lustrous beauty.
