Objects and JudaicaEbony Statues from Africa
Ebony, an extremely dense wood and one of the most difficult to carve, is commonly found in the southern part of Africa where it is used by local craftsmen to create religious artifacts and other ornaments. These statues broke at several fragile points. Repairs were made using hide glue, sturdy bases were added to reduce the chances of breakage in the future, and they were cleaned and waxed.
